Fellowship

UC Irvine’s Department of Surgery offers fellowships in the following areas:

Trauma/Critical Care Surgery
UC Irvine’s Department of Surgery has a one year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship program in surgical critical care. The fellowship provides comprehensive training in trauma, burn, acute care surgery, surgical critical care and general surgery.

Colorectal Surgery
The fellowship program in the UC Irvine’s Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery is designed to develop skills in colorectal surgery, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive approaches; to understand preoperative, operative management of patients undergoing colorectal surgery; to participate in weekly conferences and daily rounds with residents; and to participate in research in minimally invasive surgery and colorectal surgery.

Gastrointestinal Surgery - Minimally Invasive Surgery
The fellowship program in gastrointestinal surgery consists of an extensive endoscopic experience, including a wide variety of advanced laparoscopic procedures as well as gastrointestinal endoscopy. Each fellow will spend 10 months with gastrointestinal (bariatric/foregut) services and two months with colorectal services.
